Shanghai is the largest city in China. It is one of the four province-level municipalities of the PRC. Shanghai is the commercial and financial center of mainland, also the center of china’s economic, science, industry, financial,trade,exhibition and shipping. The total area of Shanghai is 6340 suqare kilometres, and is the most densely populated city in China. Its population is 23,020,000, which make it as the largest city in China, and also one of the largest city in the world. Shanghai sits on the Yangtze River Delta on China’s eastern coast,Shanghai hosts the largest foreign trade port and industrial base. Shanghai faces Kyushu of Japan across the East China Sea. It is bordered on the south of Hangzhou bay and west by Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province. Shanghai is the Capital of Convention & Exhibition in China. The quantity of exhibition ranks first in China. Shanghai held the World Expo in 2010 successfully. There are two airport in Shanghai,one is Hongqiao and the other is Pudong, now shanghai has become the famous international metropolis

Port of Shanghai’s throughput of cargo and container handling capacity both rank first in the world. There are 3250 berth in inner river area of Shanghai, among them the greatest ability relying on berth is 2000 tons. Shanghai Port’ throughput of cargo is 537,000,000 tons in 2006 and handling over 470,000,000 TEUs,which is 24% of the total containers among all the ports in china, and rank the third in the world. By the end of 2006, Shanghai’s container regular ship has reached to 2106 per month.and devoted to be the international financial and shipping center in 2020.
