Shenzhen is located in the Pearl River Delta, the municipality covers an area of 1,953 square kilometres. Is a major city of Guangdong Province. Shenzhen is the first Special Economic Zones.

 Shenzhen has become the important base for high-tech industries, financial center, information center, and southern trade center,transportation center,and travel center,modern international metropolis. Shenzhen is a important traffic hub city. Since it is adjoining to Hongkong, Shenzhen has the largest number of exit and entry ports along the boundary.

Port of Shenzhen is located in the southern region of the Pearl River Delta, have 8 port area, with water region area 106 square kilometers, land area 16 squre kilometers,113 berths will be more than 500 tons, among them there are 100 productivity berths, 26 thousand tons level berths, 5 appropriate berths for container, the port is expected to pass 35 million tons each year, among them 1.4 million TEU is included. Pier 12965m length, the biggest ability relying on berth is 75 thousand tons of class, the area is 1,682,100 square meters, 800 loading and unloading machines. In 2005, Shenzhen port handled 153 million tons of cargo, and 16.197 million TEU.
